Welcome to Serenitea Travel & Events’ brand new blog. In the coming months we plan on sharing travel posts that are educational, inspirational and above all entertaining. Travel is so much more than hotels and flights around the world and we look forward to sharing that with you. For our first post here are some tips for having a wonderful and hassle free destination wedding:
1. Choose your location carefully and far enough in advance that you have time to book a venue. Sit down with your spouse to be and get clear on what you want from your destination. Do you want the romance and relaxation of a place like Greece or the adventure and excitement of a place like Jamaica?
2. Decide if you are going to have family and friends be invited and if so how many people you want there. Many couples choose to have a destination wedding to avoid all the costs that come along with traditional weddings such as inviting a bunch of guests and paying for all of their food and beverages. A comfortable number for most destination weddings is 20 to 30 people but more and more couples are leaving guests and friends out of the event completely and just having simple parties when they get home.
3. Consider making your destination wedding spot your honeymoon location as well. Not only will this save you money on additional travel, you won’t feel as strapped for time.
4. Check passport laws and marriage license requirements for your destination. Many places require paperwork, waiting periods and some even require blood tests to get married. One way to avoid the red tape is to get your legal marriage certificate in the states and have just a ceremony at your destination. Regarding your passport make sure you have at least six months from the end date of your travels before it will expire.
5. Book your trip! You should start booking your hotel and transportation up to a year in advance. The further in advance you book the more money you save, the more choices you will have in your rooms and the more likely your venue will be available on the date you choose.
